Summer Camps

Summer Camps

Mavis Island Project hosts summer camp for elementary aged kids at Mavis Island. Camps are centered in mindfulness and free-play. Kids connect with their natural environment through nature journaling, plant identification, foraging for edible plants, swimming, and canoeing. Camps with Gabrielle Brown will learn yoga and meditation, while camps with Sarah Lapides learn dance fitness.

Mavis Island Project ran two, weeklong day camps at Mavis Island in 2022 and 2023, and six, weeklong camps in 2024. Summer 2025 will have three weeks of day camp and one four-day overnight camp. The staff at each camp are highly experienced in childcare and skilled in the activities provided. Staff are trained in outdoor emergency medicine and lifeguarding. A survey was completed by families after each camp from 2022-24 and 100% of families said the camp met their expectations and that they would recommend Mavis Island camps to other families.
